Val Roya
The Roya river valley has always been an important link between the sea of Liguria and the
mountains of Piedmont.
Impressive rocks, low-lying towns alternating with villages that seem to balance on mountain
peaks, clear running streams and after every curve a new panoramic sight characterize the route
through the valley.
From Ventimiglia there is a daily train over the old mountain railroad to Cuneo. The train stations it
passes can be used as a starting point for hikes or mountain bike rides. The train follows a
panoramic route, passing through tunnels and over bridges with views over the valley and the river.
