At the spot where the river Merdanzo and Nervia meet lies the castle town Isolabona.
Strategically located at the corner of two valleys the castle of the Doria family is overlooking the
village and surrounding area. The old village is characterized by the cool narrow streets and stone
arches.
The main road by the middle of the village leads to the church of Santa Maria Maddalena. In the
main street clear spring water flows from a unique octagonal fountain from 1486.
Along the provincial road is the late medieval sanctuary of Nostra Signora delle Grazie, which is
richly decorated with frescoes. At the cemetery there is the San Giovanni Battista church where in
the back a 15th century fresco can be seen.
Isolabona is known for its annual International Harp Festival. Scattered throughout the village are
found sculptures that refer to the festival.
