The sea within reach.
The area is well connected to the sea and has many seaside resorts. There is a large choice of
spacious beaches. The natural outlet of the Val Nervia is the beach of Camporosso Mare, known
for its wideness and the fact that it has been assigned the "Blue Flag of Europe" for several years.
You can also visit the Oasi del Nervia, a nature reserve protected by the World Wildlife Fund.
The coast of Vallecrosia is characterized by numerous wide bays with plenty of space to sit and
crystal clear water. Beyond Vallecrosia the beaches of Bordighera begin. This area has also been
assigned with the Blue Flag because of the clean water.
Who doesn't mind a walk along the mountainous coast can go to Calandre, the sandy beach near
Ventimiglia which is surrounded on all sides by cliffs and mountain walls which gives it a tropical
impression. Again, the water is crystal clear making the gently sloping seabed visible at all times.
This wide shallow area makes the beach a suitable place for children.
Those who want to combine a swim with culture can go to Balzi Rossi. The prehistoric museum is
located right on the sea. A few kilometers away lies Menton with its long promenade full of
restaurants along the beach. It is a good place, both day and night, whether or not combined with a
visit to the old town or the casino.
The dog can come to the special dog beach at the mouth of the river Roya in Ventimiglia. Also in
Bordighera and Ospedaletti part of the beach is reserved for dogs.
Shopping along the water.
Lovers of markets should not forget to visit the market in Bordighera or Ventimiglia. On Thursday
morning along the promenade in Bordighera and on Friday throughout the day along the
promenade and around the park in Ventimiglia. Both markets have a wide range of local products.
