Almost completely in the mountains, at an altitude of 900 meters where the vegetation changes
from chestnut trees to pine trees, lies Bajardo. The village overlooks the high Val Nervia and the
Alpi Liguri.
At the highest point, built on an ancient Druid shrine, stand the remains of the church of San
Nicolo.
A violent earthquake on the 23rd of February 1887 made most of the the church collapse. Only six
years later, in 1893, the new Nicolas church was consecrated.
