Apricale
High on a ridge in the valley of the Merdanzo lies the village of Apricale. Like Dolceacqua, Apricale
is recognized by the "Associazione dei Borghi più belli d'Italia".
Characteristic for Apricale are the many wallpaintings which are arranged in the alleys. Here also
small workshops, a (furnished) castle to visit and a rich culinary tradition.
The church of Santa Maria dei Angeli is found at the foot of the village. For a long time a
therapeutic effect was attributed to the nearby source.
In the summer theatre performances take place on the central square below the castle.
