Triora
Situated high in the mountains Triora is a beautiful place with a long history.
In 1588 a witch trial was held in Triora: a group of women was accused of being responsible for the
famine of that year and accused of witchcraft. Condemned to the stake this is remembered as the
last major witch trial in Italy.
More recently, during World War II, this area housed many partisans..
