Ospedaletti
Just 5 kilometers away from the center of San Remo lies the resort of Ospedaletti. Beautifully
situated in a sort of natural amphitheater sheltered by the hills in the north. In 1860 the Russian
court physician Kerel choose this place as a health resort for Tsarina Maria Alessandrovna
because this environment according to him knew no winters.
Ospedaletto is the starting point of a 24 kilometer long bicycle and walking path along the coast.
The bicycle path was built along the stretch where there was a railroad from 1872 until 2001. A few
years after the shift of the line the current path was applied which ends at San Lorenzo al mare.
