Perinaldo is situated on a ridge, 572 meters above sea level. It overlooks a vegetation of ancient
olive trees, gorse, mimosa and vineyards. At the highest point of the village the views go all the
way to the highest and farthest mountains and to the sea.
Perinaldo is the birthplace of the astronomer Gian Domenico Cassini who worked for King Louis
the 14th., known as the Sun King. He discovered four of Saturn's moons and the Cassini division
between the different rings of the planet, which was named after him.
The clear sky above Perinaldo can be studied under the guidance from the observatory.
