This kind of olive cultivation is typical of Italian Riviera.
Taggiasca olive is native from Taggia, a city in the province of Imperia. It was cultivated in our region, for the first time, by the Benedictine monks of “San Colombano”. They proposed the rationalization of olive growing in this area, bringing an economic and culinary success.
The more important cultivation of taggiasca olives remains in the province of Imperia.
In fact the Italian Riviera is the natural habitat for this tree, because the climate is very mild.
